Moy Fishery Upper Beat – Juvenile Day Permit

Season – Salmon from 1st February to 30th September. Trout from 15th February to 10th October.

Retentions

1. This permit is non-refundable or transferable from one beat to another.
2. 2(a). In the event of angling being disrupted by circumstances outside the control/jurisdiction of the Moy Fishery, Inland Fisheries Ireland cannot be held liable. Angler’s fee will not be refunded, and angler will not be compensated for loss of fishing.
   2(b). In the event of angling being restricted by Government order, or should Inland Fisheries Ireland cancel bookings for conservation or development purposes, anglers affected may be refunded but shall not be entitled to compensation for loss of fishing.
3.  The following automatically invalidate this permit.
   3(a). The use of prawn / shrimp as bait downstream of the official sign located in the townland of Rahans. Fishing with prawn / shrimp is only permitted upstream of this sign to the upper boundary of the fishery but only on a catch and release basis. All fish caught on the prawn /shrimp in this stretch must be returned alive to the river.
   3(b). Fishing without a valid State Salmon Rod Licence, logbook and tags.
   3(c). Trespass on Inland Fisheries Ireland waters other than set out on this permit.
   3(d). Obstruction of anglers / fishery staff.
   3(e). Breaches of Moy Fishery rules/regulations.
   3(f). Breaches of Fishery Law.
   3(g). Breaches of Salmon Angling Regulations.

Once this permit has been invalidated, the permit holder will not be permitted to purchase or hold a subsequent permit for the remainder of the applicable angling season.

Fishery Rules and Bag Limits

1. Inland Fisheries Ireland reserves the right to change or introduce fishery rules & regulations and revise tariffs without notice.
2. Permits must be purchased before fishing, and all anglers must be in possession of a current state salmon rod licence, tags and logbook when fishing.
3. Failure to produce your licence and permit on demand may lead to a fixed charge notice or prosecution.
4. Permits are not refundable or transferable (Named angler only).
5. All anglers are required to make a catch / no catch return on the form provided or they must report their catch directly to the Ridge Pool Angling Centre (096 22669) or to the Moy Fishery office (096 21332) or moyfishery@fisheriesireland.ie on the same day of capture.
6. All anglers must access the fishery at designated access points only. Keep to the river bank, use stiles and paths and must not park in front of gates, leave gates open, cause damage, discard litter, fishing lines or hooks.
7. All anglers are required to keep a respectable distance from the next angler and fish pools in rotation.
8. Juvenile anglers must be in possession of a valid permit and accompanied on the fishery by a responsible adult.
9. Fishing is restricted to the hours of 6 am to 10 pm.
10. In line with the requirements of the Wild Salmon and Sea Trout Tagging Scheme Regulations all details of catch must be recorded immediately in the angler’s logbook even if the fish is released
11. The killing and possession of foul hooked fish is prohibited.
12. If water temperatures rise to a level that is likely to impact fish health and welfare IFI reserve the right to close the fishery in line with best practice and IFI’s Warm Water Protocol.
13.  During the period 1^st June to 31^st August anglers may keep 2 salmon in total per day after which they must cease angling.
14.  During the period 1^st September to 30^th September anglers must practice “Catch and Release Only”, using single or double barbless hooks and anglers may not use worms. No salmon (any size) or sea trout (over 40 cm) may be retained for this period.
