Castleconnell Salmon Fishery – Permit Rules

The holder of this permit is permitted to fish for salmon on the ESB Castleconnell Fishery, from the point known as “the Gap in the Dam” in the townland of Lacka, Castleconnell, downstream to the point known as “The Bush Hole” in the townland of Prospect, Castleconnell.

Salmon angling on the ESB Castleconnell Fishery is allowed only on a “Catch and Release” basis. All salmon must be carefully handled and immediately returned to the wild. It is prohibited to use or attempt to use worms as bait or any fish hook other than a single barbless hook or a double barbless hook.

Pike or Coarse Angling is not permitted on the Castleconnell Fishery

1) Angling shall be with single rod and line only.

2) Angling allowed only during daylight hours.

3) Use of prawn / shrimp as bait is prohibited at all times.

4) No electronic aids are permitted.

5) Possession or use of a gaff is prohibited.

6) Angling from boats is prohibited.

7) This Permit must be available at all times for inspection by ESB personnel or IFI officers. ESB reserve the right to refuse to furnish further annual, weekly or daily permits to any person found to be in breach of IFI or ESB angling regulations.

8) This Permit will be revoked immediately from any angler found in possession of a salmon.

9) ESB or IFI Officers may withdraw this permit without notice upon breach of any of the conditions contained therein.

10) ESB reserve the right to close all or any part of the Fishery if doing so is considered necessary to conserve Salmon stocks.

11) Possession of this permit does not confer the right on the holder of this permit to fish on ESB owned waters where the permit holder has had his permission to fish ESB owned waters revoked.

12) This permit is issued subject to a full and proper return of the numbers of all fish caught and released to Inland Fisheries Ireland.
